Respectfully Honest ??!?

Been a while since I had something worth saying. Guess that is about to change now.

I recently got into an argum… umm contradictory discussion, with a person of rather different views during my attendance to a workshop.

This person began by outlining what he called the principles by which the workshop was to be conducted (at least how he wished it would/will happen), most of which were ok in my book.

However i had a BIG problem when i realised he put “respect” and “honesty” in the same place, so i waited for him to finish his intro, then respectfully raised my hand and questioned him about what the HELL is “respect” and “honesty” doing in the same place ? He played dumb and asked me “what do you mean?”

So i said that basically TRUE respect and TRUE honesty exclude each other as personality traits or rather, behaviour sets to which we can adhere at the same time and at 100% for each. “oh ? why do you say that ?” he replied.

Wehh DOOH,  think about an example of a social situation where a man has the choice to be honest or to be respectful. Let’s make it interesting with an actual example:

Wife:  honey, does this dress make me look fat ?

Husband: …….

He has a choice to be respectful and say “no” (and any sweet-talk) or to be honest if that is the case and say “yes, oh GOD yes”

I’m almost sure, somebody out there has seen or has gone thru similar social .. umm ….. choices.

How can anybody be 100% honest to somebody and still be 100% honest ?

My answer is “it can’t be done” at least not unless there are two perfectly identically thinking people, discussing the same thing, having the absolute same point of view. How often does that happen ? Not fery often.

Once a person, true to his or her principles, (meaning not willing to compromise one of such principles) chooses to be honest or respectful 100% then that person will always be either of two but never BOTH. Meaning that when faced with a choice, they will always be truthful, and honest with those around, even if that means eventually upsetting those people OR a person whom choose to be respectful, will always keep their mouth shut and play nice and show respect, when asked of their own views of things.

Please note, i am reffering to the respect GIVEN TO, not EXPECTED FROM somebody.

If  I’d be so lucky as to have made somebody think it’d be time to make the choice between these two, consider two scenarios:

1. everybody on the planet, is respectful of each other. they live in an apparently blissful society, where everybody has their own systems of values and beliefs and they keep it to themselves, thus showing “respect” , out of fear that some of their values or beliefs, might offend somebody at some point.

Yeah right, human nature says sooner or later somebody WILL speak out, seeking recognition and acknowledgement for their way of being, their invididual beliefs and values. That person WILL be an outcast, for having dared to speak their mind in a respectful society.

2. everybody on the planet is honest to each other about everything,  being themselves, without hiding, expressing their own individuality as they see fit, without fear of becoming outcasts; accepting, rejecting, labeling, judging any and all by their own standards.

Sounds like anarchy  doesn’t it? I believe humans are good at heart, but also sensitive.  So the ones that failed to rise up to the expectations of those whom they admire will innevitably become depressed. Well, that’s what therapy is for, but then again, realizing that there’s a whole planet out there, that awaits, and that their own world should not be limited because of setbacks, i doubt anybody will dwell in their own problems for too long.

Well, that’s my two cents for the day.

Decision time anyone ?

Long history of human …….. history

In short, we’re slaves of our own secretions.

The brain takes what it likes, from what we happen to do outside our skulls. If we fall in a pile of … ummm .. how can i put this nicely, as if you didn’t get it by now, our brain hopefully will release any and all chemicals telling us NOT to do that again, or it will release that again, and make us, and itself, feel like we’d be that pile of whatever. If we do something good, like ….. breathing … well, we live to tell about it and hopefully have the chance to release endorphins for something pleasant happening to us (i’m not gonna give any examples, that would be subjective and i’ll try not to be, but i’m not making any promises)

We, my fellow humans, are slaves, in “the year of our Lord” 2009, have failed to get rid of the biggest slave maker in human history. Our own, little brain which hopefully is not so little, or you’ll click the first flashy ad that pops up without second thoughts like a member in good standing of this wonderful consumer society.

No matter how much we try to get away, from the enslaver, we will never do that. At least with current technology. Some might say meditation releases our true self, bla bla, our soul reaching new heights, detaching from the bla bla, evolving. Ok, think about this: meditation, new stimulus, no physical movement, so it’s like party for the brain, no hand-eye coordination and STILL it gets to receive input, hey .. do nothing and receive something? i’m down with that. So even then, it sends off addiction-making substances telling our consciousness, to do it more often. And we as humans, trust ourselves first and foremost (if not, seek therapy or become famous teaching others how to do it) so we believe our own chemical sugestions and we repeat, that which provided us with those chemicals that we ourselves secreted. So we come to “like” meditation, which by some people’s beliefs is supposed to “release” people, from the flesh imprisonment. WROOONG.

However, this, i hope, will be the only enslaver of humans, now and for as long as we continue to exist, having this genetic manifestation a.i. human form.

And i say this because our brain is encoded with, what i see as life’s true purpose, its sole reason for existence (i mean all biological life, don’t get cocky cuz you are self-aware, human) is life, itself. Thus, procreation is “built-in” as the “why bother to..” reason,  for anything we do.
We exist so far, only to breed and make technological advances, to make our lives easier so we have more time to find different mates, to create biological diversity, which is one of life’s self-defense mechanisms, against extinction from other bio-environmental factors (viruses, disasters such as floods or whatever else you can think of) because by creating 10000000 variations of the human genetic code, you increase the odds of at least ONE of those, to be at least resistant if not immune to, something that every other, is not, thus life’s purpose is protected. The europeans are a good example of that, their genes have become resistant to the plague, after the outbreaks thath occured in medieval times.  That’s why  south american natives,  became ill when exposed to our diseases and viruses. If you don’t think it true, first check http://latinamericanhistory.about.com/od/theconquestofthemaya/p/08mayaconquest.html  which is just something i dug up to prove the point.
We’d be too stupid to breed, if our brain didn’t tell us, hey i liked it, do it again. It’s sort of like having a best friend that never betrayed us, but that has its own agenda and ideas of what we should do.
Objective one: make more of this genetic code, in combination with as many other genetic codes. And so far, guess what .. we fell for it and as long as humans keep doing it, there will always be a “next generation” of humans.

Drugs, booze and everything else are just, temporary side-tracks, but perhaps some of them make us want to breed, even more (weed, or so i hear).
This is not to say doing drugs, is ok tho, not until we know ALL the implications, or at least the effects on SOME of the gene combinations. Some can smoke a truckload and not feel that much, while some live next door to the weed truck smoker and catch half a loop of smoke and they can’t get off the couch for hours.
Wait it out, watch others die off, then decide if that’s what you want your purpose to be.
Hehe, personally.. i wanna make life’s purpose a reality and not deny it nor hold myself above my own secretions’ powers over me. In case you hit too many walls too many times and think “naughty” things when you see the word “secretions” i am reffering to the BRAIN’S CHEMICAL SECRETIONS….. perverts .. shame on you… :)
But then again, that’s how the male brain works, that’s how the brain knows it has done all it can, to make life’s purpose, have a chance at happening. When “secretions” happen, meaning … ejaculation…… then the brain knows “the deed is done” so it gives us an orgasm, as a “job well done” pat on the back…. By natural selection, males that did not do this, failed to pass on their genes fast enough to compete with the males that did that consistently, thus they became … extinct.

I say be the slave, it can be worth it…. but be a slave to your body, don’t let your body be the slave of something outside of it. Hey, it’s a fully stocked bar in there, why ask more?
And yeah i AM anti-drugs…. sue me. And yes, that WAS a completely subjective matter. But after reading all this, can you blame me ? Well, sure you can, if you’re on anything right now. If you are, go to the substances part, whenever i’ll have a sleepless night again i’ll think of something to write there too, for now, keep it to yourself.
